With nearly 25 years of legal experience, our founder, Elizabeth Tuomey, has fought for justice in the courtroom as both a criminal defense attorney and a prosecutor. Over the years, her passion for advocacy led her to focus on helping families secure vital educational accommodations for their children. Now, with Kaitlynn on board, our firm is even better equipped to handle the legal and educational aspects of special education advocacy, ensuring families receive the best possible support.

Kaitlynn is a highly respected educator, researcher, and advocate in the field of special education. Her academic background and professional experience provide invaluable insights into how children with disabilities learn and thrive in various educational settings.

  • M.A. in Autism and Severe Intellectual Disabilities, University of South Florida
  • B.S. in Exceptional Student Education, University of South Florida
  • Licensed Special Education Teacher (Adapted & General Curriculum, K-12)

Professional Experience:

  • Postdoctoral Researcher at Baylor University, leading teams on educational research and policy.
  • Adjunct Faculty & University Supervisor at George Mason University, mentoring future educators in adapted curriculum programs.
  • Former Special Education Teacher in Fairfax and Arlington County Public Schools, working directly with students with autism, Down syndrome, and other disabilities.
  • Federal & State-Level Policy Contributor, working with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP).
  • Published Author & Speaker on topics such as inclusive education, IEP planning, and disability rights.
